The South Shore electric rail line connects South Bend Regional Airport with cities throughout northwestern Indiana, with a final destination of downtown Chicago, Illinois. Low cost rail service is ideal for commuters and pleasure travelers alike. Travel time to and from downtown Chicago is approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes.

South Bend is on Eastern "New York" Time year round and is one hour later than Chicago. All other stations on the route observe Central “Chicago” time.
